Calex Brick Assembly Module (CBAMTM) Concept

CBAMTM stands for Calex Brick Assembly Module. CBAMTM is Calex's latest product offering targeting
military and avionics applications that call for unique features, rugged design and high reliability. The
CBAMTM concept allows the system designer to choose the features needed for the application at hand.
More specifically, the CBAMTM solution allows you to mix and match modular products to create your own
unique power solution. This addresses a variety of issues including brown-out protection, EMI reduction,
surge and spike protection and provides clean uninterrupted power for your down stream circuitry. Calex can
incorporate CBAMTM functionality into a variety of form factors to meet your unique requirements - simply
contact the factory for details.

Power Quality

Protects downstream circuitry against transients (per MIL-STD-1275B).

EMI Filter

Filter for conducted emissions (meets MIL-STD-461E without the need for external parts).

Hold-Up and Hold-Up Light

Prevents power drop-outs during brownouts, transients and glitches.

Load Share

Easy paralleling of multiple converters.

COTS Power Quality
The COTS Power Quality (PQ) module protects downstream circuitry against transients and over-voltages.
The module is designed with reliability in mind and incorporates only components with low failure rates. By
utilizing a proprietary technique developed by Calex, the PQ module exceeds the requirements of MIL-STD-
1275.
Due to it's rugged design, the PQ module is also usable as a pre-regulator thereby extending the input
voltage range of traditional DC DC converters.

Designed to interface with MIL-STD-1275B 28 VDC Power Bus
Operates up to 100V

EMI Filter Module
This EMI Filter (EFIL) allows most of Calex's DC-DC converters to meet or exceed the rigorous conducted
emissions requirements of the MIL-STD-461E. Simply use the EFIL module as a feed-through connection
between the power source and a Calex DC/DC converter.

Key features of the EMI Filter Module:
Filter for systems with 24VDC and 28VDC nominal input voltage
½ brick package (2.28" x 2.4" x 0.50")
Meets requirements of MIL-STD-461E at full load (200W @ 28V)
All ceramic solution

Hold-Up and Hold-Up Light Modules
These modules provide the user with uninterrupted power during brownouts, transients and glitches. Calex has
developed two versions of this mission critical component the Hold-Up module with everything built into a "use as
is" package and the space-optimized Hold-Up Light with user programmable hold-up time.

Key features of the Hold-Up (HU-28) module:

½ brick package (2.28" x 2.4" x 0.50")
50ms hold-up time without external capacitors
User programmable under-voltage trip: 13.5V to 22V
Trip status indicator

supplies for increased power capability, increased reliability and redundancy.
