Precision Filters, Amplifiers, and Oscillators from Frequency Devices
Frequency Devices was founded in 1968 to fill the need in the marketplace for prepackaged precision
electronic active filters, oscillators, and amplifiers.
Precision Low-Pass or High-Pass Fixed Frequency Filters
We have several different versions of small filters with frequency
stability as good as ±1%, low noise, excellent amplitude accuracy,
with fixed frequencies that range from 0.01 Hz up to 1 MHz. They
are available in two-pole to eight-pole versions with many different
functions such as Butterworth, Bessel, etc. These fully self-
contained units require no external components or adjustments.
Digitally Programmable Low-Pass or High-Pass Filters
Our Digitally Programmable filters can be programmed to
change the filter corner frequency over a 256 to 1 frequency
range. They have excellent frequency stability and frequency
ranges from 0.1 Hz up to 1.28 MHz. They are available in
four-pole or eight-pole versions with many different functions
such as Butterworth, Bessel, etc.
Interference Eliminating Band-Pass and Band-Reject Filters
FDI sells either fixed frequency or frequency programmable band-
pass or band-reject filters. These filters are available in two-pole
pair or four pole-pair versions and are used to eliminate
interference. They are available in center frequencies from 1 Hz to
100 kHz and in Qs of 1, 2, 5, and 10. Tunable versions are also
available.
Digitally Programmable Wideband Amplifiers
We have a series of Amplifiers with either fixed gain or
programmable gain. Gains can range from -12 dB to +60 dB
and the amplifiers have differential inputs and can have single
ended or differential outputs. Either AC or DC coupling is
available. These Amplifiers are used to condition signals and
have a full power band width of 100 kHz and are usable
beyond that frequency.
Low Distortion Oscillators
These Oscillators are available fixed frequency or with
programmable frequencies and with single or dual outputs. The
dual output oscillator is available with in phase or quadrature (90
degree) outputs in frequencies from 100 Hz to 100 kHz. Distortion
(THD) can be as good as <-100 dB depending on frequency and
oscillator used.

These units are precision filters that can be used in the lab or production environment.
The 90IP series Tunable Filters
The 90IP Instrumentation Platform is a four slot chassis with
controller that can hold up to 8 different 8 pole filters. It may be
used as a bench-top instrument or in rack-mount systems. Each
90IP chassis has its own controller card and display along with
space for up to 4 slot cards with 2 filters on each card. The filters
can be controlled using the front panel or by GPIB or RS-232
communication. The 90IP is tunable from 0.1 Hz to 300 kHz, gain
can be adjusted from 0 to 80 db, and it is also available as a DC
powered unit to eliminate ground loop problems.
The 950 Series Tunable Filter
Frequency Devices' Model 950 instruments furnish the user with an
8-pole low-pass or high-pass filter that is tunable by front panel
controls. The controls allow the user to select a corner frequency
between 10 Hz and 50 kHz with 6 steps from each of two selectable
ranges. This unit has differential or single ended input, ±2 %
frequency stability, and Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 90
dB.
The 900 Series Tunable Filter
Frequency Devices' Model 900CT (AC powered) & 900BT (Internal
Battery Operated) instruments are single channel; 8-pole low-pass or
high-pass front panel tunable filter instruments. The controls allow the
user to select a corner frequency between 0.1 Hz and 49.9 kHz with a
resolution of 1:499 for each of the four selectable ranges. This unit also
has differential or single ended input, ±2 % frequency stability, and Total
Harmonic Distortion of less than 90 dB.
The 960 Wide Band Amplifier
Frequency Devices Model 960 (AC powered) & 960B (Internal
Battery Operated) instruments are single channel wide band
amplifiers. The bandwidth is adjustable from 10 Hz wide to 1 MHz
wide and the gain can be set from 0 dB to 80 dB in 1 dB steps. The
960 has selectable differential inputs and outputs and can drive a 50
ohm load.
