The following enhanced / new functions and facilities are available in
version 3x
System ported to Microsoft Visual Basic© 6
All Transmille software has been ported to Visual Basic 6, which gives better support for XP and
improved database operation. System databases remain in Microsoft Access 95 format but may
be converted to Microsoft Access 2000 (databases should not be converted to Access versions
higher than Microsoft Access 2000 format)
Updated database engine : Access© 2000 compatible.
The new versions of ProCal & ProCal-Track incorporate an updated database engine which
allows better compatibility with all versions of Windows above Windows 98 SE, including
Windows XP
Compatibility with Access 2000 allows users to interact with the ProCal certificates and
instrumentation database using external methods such as the ability to view the database (or
exported datasets) using web pages.
Included with the new version of the software is an update program to allow easy migration to
version 3x. This will update all database structures allowing new functionality to be
implemented.
Support for Crystal Decisions Crystal Reports© V9
Transmille software now provides better support for Crystal Reports, and will install runtime files
necessary for report use. Each procedure can be assigned a specific report design as required,
and additional reporting facilities are available to analyse data within the certificates &
instrumentation database.
Note : In order to create new reports or edit existing reports, a copy of Crystal Reports
(Standard Edition) is required (sold separately / available from software suppliers).

New uncertainties calculation system (M3003 Requirements)
A new completely re-written uncertainties calculation system is now built into ProCal, allowing
uncertainties to be calculated with support for multiple sources of uncertainty, noise / flicker and
dynamic links to traceable instrument uncertainty tables.
This system provides the ability to view an on-screen calculation `spreadsheet style' sheet
formatted as per the examples in the M3003 publication. The ability to dynamically change the
traceable instrument means that a procedure is generic and uncertainties calculated are for the
traceable instrument used at the time of calibration.

ProEdit incorporates additional controls for uncertainty templates and uncertainty lines, which
can be used to manually select uncertainty information.
This advanced system contains built-in lookup tables for all Transmille products to enable the
uncertainties to be calculated simply be selecting a Transmille calibrator (in ProSet) and running
a specific test type within ProCal.
Automatic procedure archive function
ProEdit now incorporates a new function to enable procedures to be automatically archived
before changes are made. This function also automatically increments the version number.
Expanded formula functionality
Expanded formula command set to allow external values as set in the traceability list to be
incorporated - e.g.
N=E13 : Sets the nominal to an external value
N=T12/E23 : Uses an external value in calculating a new nominal
X=X/E33 : Uses an external value as a divisor or multiplier
X=X*E33 : Uses an external value as a divisor or multiplier

Optional procedure test sections
Using the certificate format function `Print Only If Completed', a procedure can be set up to
enable a section to be run only if required. ProCal detects a section which begins with a test title
and has one or more tests after the test title set as `Print Only If Completed'. When this section
is encountered, ProCal will prompt the user if this section is required to be run if the user
chooses no, this section will be skipped.
This function is ideal for instruments which have options which may or may not be installed.
ProCal Intelligent status detection
ProCal now utilises the status code as set by ProCal-Track to assist the user in the calibration
sequence. If an instrument is set as status I (Before Cal Done - awaiting adj) then ProCal will
automatically select `After Adjustment' in the calibration options screen when this instrument is
selected for calibration.
ProCal will also ensure that a calibration cannot be started when a status is set which indicates
the instrument calibration is already in progress (e.g. Not status E Received Awaiting
Calibration or I - Before Cal Done - awaiting adj). This prevents work commencing on, for
example, an instrument which is awaiting a customer order or quote acceptance.
This function is dependant on the correct use of the status codes.
Customer comments displayed on calibration options screen
If an instrument is booked in with specific customer requirements or observations, this is now
displayed to the operator immediately before the calibration begins (on the Calibration options
screen). This ensures customer requests are noted before the calibration begins, eliminating
wasted time spent resolving these issues.

Improved status / reporting control on completion of a calibration
To assist in efficient processing of a calibration job, the status select screen at the completion of
a calibration provides an easy way to select common status codes a calibration which is
incomplete will not be allowed to be marked as `calibration complete' (this can be overridden).
The user can also use one of the built in crystal reports to print a calibration fault report or a
repair estimate directly from ProCal (if used with a PC fax program this can be sent
immediately). This allows jobs to be handled as efficiently as possible, and ensures customers
are kept informed on the progress (or problems found) with their instrument(s).
Traceable equipment list displayed when beginning a calibration
To assist the user when running a calibration, ProCal will display the traceable instrument(s)
required as defined in the procedure when beginning a calibration. This allows items shared by
several workstations in a laboratory (e.g. standard resistors) to be collected at the required
workstation.
Calibration results screen now with view filter
The calibration results screen (displayed at the end of a calibration) now allows the user to view
specific tests, based on the calibration results :
· All Tests : All tests, regardless of result & print type
· Problem Tests : Failed, fault or incomplete (printing tests only)
· Incomplete Tests: Incomplete (printing tests only)
· Failed Tests : Failed (printing tests only)
· Marginal Tests : Marginal Pass (printing tests only)
Note : Print format tests (Titles, Blank Lines & Page Breaks) are not displayed in this view.

Extended ProCal instrument control language
The ProCal command language now incorporates the ability to change the COM port settings
on a line by line basis.
The command line should incorporate a command as shown below :
The COM command is comprised of the following parameters :
COM[Baud Rate,Parity,Data Bits, Stop Bits]
Priority function : Digital photo display (including photo path setup)
Provides the capability for ProCal to display images of the instrument selected when using the
priority list function.

Enhanced graphical user interface
ProCal has an updated user interface, including a new measurement bar layout (incorporating
increments in %). Test pass / marginal pass / fail indication is now clearly displayed on
measurement screens, and support for text, images and video prompts makes guiding
operators through calibrations even easier.

for clearer indication
Use of `welcome' screens are employed to make selection of
commonly used functions quicker, and toolbars now include
pop-up tool tips to allow easy identification of buttons.
